Paul White is a
veteran newspaper reporter and editor who has been involved in the launches of
both USA TODAY and Baseball Weekly (now Sports Weekly).Currently part of the baseball coverage for both
publicaitons, he joined the original USA TODAY staff several months before the
national newspaper's September 1982 debut. He spent most of eight-plus years
there directing the Sports department's copy desk operations before taking over
as the paper's baseball editor in 1989.While baseball editor at USA TODAY,
he coordinated major changes in baseball coverage, including the expanded
boxscore that has become a trademark of the USA TODAY and a staple in coverage
everywhere. White was selected to be the first editor of Baseball Weekly
when it was formed early in 1991.
